Health and wellness is more than just a sustainability program – it is a part of Woodhouse Group’s commitment to support our tenants and improve their businesses and workplaces. Health and wellness is more than just a sustainability program – it is a part of Woodhouse Group’s commitment to support tenants and improve their businesses and workplaces. The benefits of a safe and healthy work environment are clear – increased productivity, decreased absenteeism, greater employee engagement – all of which positively affect our tenants and their staff, clients, and visitors. WE ARE WELL HEALTH-SAFETY RATED As part of this commitment to our tenants, Woodhouse Group has achieved the WELL Health-Safety Rating at select buildings. The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating to empower owners and operators to take a comprehensive approach to prioritizing people’s health and safety. The rating, which consists of a checklist of Features from the WELL Building Standard, helps create a safe and healthy workplace environment that considers cleaning and sanitization procedures, emergency preparedness, air and water quality management, innovation, and stakeholder engagement – allowing everyone to feel safe when entering a building. Achieving the Well Health-Safety Rating is one way Woodhouse Group aims to deliver more thoughtful and intentional spaces that support our tenant’s well-being. Read our certification announcement HELPING BUILDING OCCUPANTS BREATHE EASY WITH UV AIR PURIFICATION The COVID pandemic made us all very conscious of the quality of our air we breathe in work spaces. Our team researched and found a product that eradicates Covid-19, bacteria, fungi spores, mold, and other viruses, in an effort to protect our clients, their teams, and their customers. Our solution? High-powered UVC-LED lights! Throughout the summer of 2022 we launched a AirProTech System Installation program to improve the air quality in many of our buildings. We installed these germ-controlling lights in the existing HVAC heating and cooling systems of buildings. The high-intensity lights attack the pathogens by incapacitating their RNA and DNA strands, and dramatically improving the safety of the indoor air for this building. Woodhouse Group monitors these units to provide real-time, fault-detection information on the UVC-LED performance - so our tenants can breathe easy knowing that their spaces are cleaner and safer for people to be in.

  • Woodhouse Group Recognized for Excellence in Construction

Local general contracting firm Woodhouse Group was recognized with two awards at the 2025 Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA) Building Excellence Awards, held on March 21 at Bingemans in Kitchener. Woodhouse Group Recognized for Excellence in Construction March 27, 2025 Kitchener, ON — Local general contracting firm Woodhouse Group was recognized with two awards at the 2025 Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA) Building Excellence Awards, held on March 21 at Bingemans in Kitchener. The biennial GVCA Building Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in construction, design, innovation, and project execution by member companies across Waterloo Region and surrounding areas. This year’s event brought together contractors, consultants, architects, and industry professionals to recognize the work shaping the built environment of our community. "We’re incredibly proud of our team and grateful for the opportunity to work on projects that reflect both the history and future of our region," said Joe Woodhouse, Chief Executive Officer at Woodhouse Group. “These two projects represent very different scopes and challenges, but they’re both about building on the past to create something meaningful for the future. That’s the kind of work we’re most excited to be part of.” Woodhouse Group took home awards for the following categories: Commercial $2–5 Million: Hans Haus Inc. (17 Benton Street, Kitchener) A downtown Kitchener building with deep community roots, the former Hans Haus building (best known as the Bavarian-themed headquarters of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest) was transformed into a modern, mixed-use commercial space. In partnership with NEO Architecture, Woodhouse Group led a thoughtful renovation that preserved the historic red brick façade, added a fourth floor, integrated energy-efficient upgrades, and created boutique offices and street-level retail. Restoration / Conversion: Dickson Public School Adaptive Reuse (65 St. Andrew Street, Cambridge) Originally built in 1876 and a longstanding heritage landmark in Galt, the former Dickson Public School was converted into ten character-rich rental units through a collaborative effort between Woodhouse Group, John MacDonald Architects, and Summerco Properties. The project preserved key architectural elements (original wood floors, stone walls, and tin ceilings) while integrating modern systems, accessibility upgrades, and thoughtful design to meet today’s residential needs. Joe Woodhouse also expressed appreciation for the Grand Valley Construction Association, adding, “The GVCA plays an important role in supporting our industry and bringing people together. We’re grateful for their leadership and for putting on events like this that celebrate the incredible work happening across Waterloo Region.” Other award recipients at this year’s event included Melloul-Blamey Construction, Zehr Group, Ball Construction, and Collaborative Structures Limited, representing a wide cross-section of excellence across the construction industry. Woodhouse Group Completes Major Renovation at The Aud for Kitchener Rangers September 16, 2025 Kitchener, ON — Woodhouse Group is proud to announce the completion of a major renovation project at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium (The Aud), home of the Kitchener Rangers. The multi-million dollar project focused on several areas tied to the Rangers’ operations, including enhancing player amenities on the main floor, moving the team’s business offices to the third floor, and converting the Subscribers Lounge into the new Don Cameron Media Room. Upgrades to player amenities on the main floor included a newly constructed state-of-the-art fitness centre, expanded players’ lounge, and improved athletic therapy and recovery areas. To make room for this high-performance training space, the Rangers’ business offices were relocated to the third level where a full floor of offices was built and completed with modern finishes. The Subscribers Lounge was also transformed into the Don Cameron Media Room, a second-floor space for accredited media, scouts, league officials, and staff. The room can be used on its own or connected to the adjoining space for larger events. “The Rangers are an ambitious organization, focused on staying competitive and attracting top talent,” said Joe Woodhouse, Chief Executive Officer of Woodhouse Group. “This renovation reflects their commitment to excellence on and off the ice, and we’re grateful to the Rangers and the City of Kitchener for trusting us to lead the project.” As the general contractor, Woodhouse Group managed the full construction process, coordinating design, scheduling, and multiple trade partners to complete the project within a compressed off-season timeline. Construction began in May and was delivered on schedule ahead of the new season. Woodhouse Group’s Director of General Contracting, Jason Boyer, credits teamwork and collaboration for making that possible. “Our construction management team and trades worked hard to keep the schedule on track and ensure the spaces were ready in time. There were a lot of moving parts and a short window to get it all done, but we’re very pleased with how the project came together.” In addition to leading the project, Woodhouse Group has chosen to sponsor the Don Cameron Media Room itself, a decision Joe Woodhouse said reflects the company’s long-standing connection with the team. “The Rangers are a wonderful partner and we’ve been a proud sponsor for decades. Sponsoring the Don Cameron Media Room brings the project full circle as part of our commitment to the team and the fans who support them.”
